Our first event celebrating QEC’s 100 years was held with the Jona Sensory Children’s Garden opening, today Wednesday 31st May 2017. Photographic images, historical memorabilia were on display with a mixture of images and stories from 1917 to 2017. A great celebration for all those before the current organization and the great work that has been achieved over the century. Further events and collaborations throughout 2017 are being planned.
Hon Minister Jenny Mikakos, Minister for Families and Children and Minister for Youth Affairs formally opened the new office for the Gippsland/Morwell team at QEC today. After nearly 20 years of sharing an office with Anglicare, the Gippsland team has finally moved to accomodate their growing team. The Gippsland staff proudly showed off their new home to their many visitors. The new office is an indication of the support for the La Trobe community in transitioning through economic and social change today and in years to come “QEC is in for the long haul”. Mary Sayers President, Athina Georgiou CEO and David Welch Area Manager celebrated the major milestone with their many supporters.
We are excited to announce the completion of construction of our Jona Children's Sensory Garden. A beautiful therapeutic outdoor space for our families to relax, learn and grow. We look forward to the official opening of the small fences coming down when the plants have matured. It is lovely to see our families and staff enjoying the calming space.
