About Keys to Caregiving

When we learn to read and respond to messages from children and infants – whether they

are tired, hungry, excited, happy or confused, it makes an enormous difference to our

interactions with them. The first step in framing our interaction is recognising signs of

engagement and disengagement. When practitioners share these concepts with parents,

those parents are then empowered in their relationship with their baby and experience

richer and more positive interactions.
