Aim of Training

Playsteps is a parent and child play-based program helping parents

to strengthen their relationship and interactions with their child while

learning practical parenting skills and building local support

networks. This program has been researched and proven to be an

effective program

This workshop prepares professionals to facilitate the 9 week PlaySteps

Program. The participants are provided with a manual and an overview

of the program. There is opportunity to discuss each element of the

course and to enhance knowledge of the following:

• Identifying strengths and challenges in parent / child interactions

• Developing Playsteps goals & action plans

• Using play activities to improve parent / child interactions

• Using photos and videos to build on parent / child strengths

• Providing parents with constructive feedback

• Facilitation skills and working with group dynamics

• Theories underpinning PlaySteps program
